Another wonderful harvest! Sorry for those of you who missed it. It was great to have some new folks today–many thanks and a warm organic welcome to Sabrina and Kristin! THanks also to Joe, Sija, Helena, Karlee, Hongman, and Ravinder.
We also welcomed some members of the Sustainable Eating Working Group of the Sustainable Purchasing Coalition at York U. Thanks for coming by, guys, and we hope to see you next Tuesday for the tour. For those of you who weren’t with us, there will be another workday this Thursday, starting at 5pm and of course, our usual one on Saturday. The weather is supposed to be great for the next couple of days, so come out and enjoy it. I will post an updated list of priorities on the inside of the shed door, then. If you are there tomorrow, the old list is still there, but I would add to that: weeding of plots with leeks in them (plots 9, 13 and 15, see map under Archives–Maloca documents or the one on the shed door) AND removing any snails you see on the cabbages in plot 12 and weed this plot leaving the cabbages and carrots. Be careful no to remove the Itlaian parsley in plot 15 and of course watch out for the strawberry runners. We are also trying to get all the compost from the pile at the garden entrance moved to the actual garden. If there are large plastic bags in the shed, then fill them and place behind or up against a side of the shed.
We planted garlic for next year in plots 14 and 17 (see above), and Bikrum weeded plot 9 and added compost to it (see below).
OK, we’re having fun, but I am still missing many of you. Don’t make me have to come after you and force harvest upon you!
The Big Fall Harvest Potluck coming soon (the first week in Oct.)!
hope to see you this Thursday or Saturday,
