2011 SUMMER SEASON
APRIL:
April 30TH – SPRING CLEAN-UP & POTLUCK
Come on out and lend a hand! We need volunteers who don’t mind getting down ‘n dirty to come to the Maloca garden site and help from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. There is plenty of landscaping (translation = manual labour) to be done in the garden before we start planting in May!
MAY:
May 28TH – SPRING DIG IN & POTLUCK
We have been busy reclaiming garden beds and weeding, and now it’s finally time to plant the seedlings that have been sprouting in HNES and in our makeshift greenhouse. Stop by the Maloca Community Garden from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM and lend a hand! We would love to have a bountiful potluck, so please bring a labeled contribution and we can plant, share and eat! We also recommend that you bring your own container/eating surface, cutlery and water bottle.
JUNE:
Throughout June and July we will be focusing on completing tasks around the Garden and will be hosting weekly workdays. In addition to the usual chores, we are interested in framing the new beds . Come out and lend a hand!
June 18TH – MALOCA MAKEOVER
We will have some people touring the garden in the upcoming weeks, so we’d like to spruce up Maloca and make it radiate beauty! Come out from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM and lend a hand repainting the mural on the shed,
tidying up the fire pit area, attacking the brush and weeds growing in and around Maloca and laying down more mulch for weed suppression.
AUGUST:
AUGUST 27TH – SUMMER HARVEST CELEBRATION
Bring your family and friends and celebrate Maloca’s summer harvest from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM! Of course there is still a bountiful Fall harvest coming up, but in the meantime let’s get together, take advantage of our fire pit, share some summer goodies and enjoy what Maloca has to offer. This is a great opportunity for communal and individual gardeners to meet each other. Of course, we’d love to see some new faces, so don’t be shy! As usual, this event will be a potluck, so please bring something to share. We ask that you bring your own plate and cutlery to minimize waste. Also, feel free to bring a lawn chair, frisbee or other outdoor games!
